Buck Knives has been in Post Falls, Idaho since the 1960s. The 110 Folding Hunter came out in 1964 and has been in continuous production since — the same blade geometry, the same brass bolsters, the same lockback mechanism that defined the category. There have been updates to the steel and fit-and-finish over sixty years, but the knife you buy today is recognizably the same object your grandfather might have carried.
The 3.75-inch 420HC blade holds an edge well for a stainless steel and sharpens easily in the field — the right trade for a working knife that might need touching up on a whetstone at camp. Brass bolsters, genuine wood handle, proper leather sheath. This is not a fashion knife. It is a working knife that has been in production for six decades because it works.
Buck offers a lifetime warranty and sharpening service from the factory. A knife at this price with that warranty and that heritage is straightforward to justify as a gift. If the recipient is between knives or has never owned a proper folding hunter, this is the one to start with.
