The Pendleton Lodge Shirt has been part of the Western working wardrobe since the 1920s in essentially this form. Heavyweight wool in a button-front shirt cut — wind-resistant, naturally fire-resistant, warm enough for early morning chores without being too heavy for afternoon work. It layers over a base and under a canvas shell and covers about 80% of Wyoming weather situations.
The board shirt construction means it holds its shape over years of use rather than going limp. Pure wool. The care trade-off for that durability: hand wash or dry clean. On a working ranch, most people have one or two of these in the wardrobe and wear them for years before replacing.
Sizing runs wide in the shoulders and chest — true to the Pendleton tradition of building for layering. If between sizes, go up. See the Western dress code guide for the full context of how this fits into a working wardrobe versus a dress wardrobe.
