The Pendleton Lodge Shirt has been part of the Western working wardrobe since the 1920s in essentially this form. Heavyweight wool in a button-front shirt cut, wind-resistant, naturally fire-resistant, warm enough for early morning chores without being too heavy for afternoon work. It layers over a base and under a canvas shell and covers about 80% of Wyoming weather situations.
The board shirt construction means it holds its shape over years of use rather than going limp. Pure wool. The care trade-off for that durability: hand wash or dry clean. On a working ranch, most people have one or two of these in the wardrobe and wear them for years before replacing.
Sizing runs wide in the shoulders and chest, true to the Pendleton tradition of building for layering. If between sizes, go up. See the Western dress code guide for the full context of how this fits into a working wardrobe versus a dress wardrobe.
